Animations - runner
I started running again. I haven't really ran since before I was married. My issue with my foot (Morton's Neuroma:http://www.podiatrychannel.com/mortonneuroma/index.shtml) caused me to do more swimming than running. I had an operation shortly after we were married to have the Neuroma removed. I just never really had the desire to run again. Until lately. My friend is going to run a ½ marathon in January '09. She had a baby in January '08 and has had a hard time losing the weight. Now she's commited to running this marathon and all the talk of running has inspired me. Because Sunshine, our dobbie-lab mix, thinks that a good running pace is that of a grey hound and Scratch, our Bull Mastiff, thinks that a good running pace is more along the lines of a turtle I can't run with them on leash. We have these large areas of land with a huge ditch in the middle so that when it rains our neighborhood doesn't flood. Since they are zoned for drainage, nothing else can be put in there. They mow it pretty frequently so it's well tended. Anyway, I let the dogs off leash and run. Sunshine runs about 3 times the amount I run and I usually meet up with Scratch on the way back. Both of them are exhausted when we get home. Since the running that I have been doing occasionally was on a tread mill I have to re-learn the art of pacing myself. I'm an asthmatic so it's especially important. I notice improvement every day which is encouraging. My pace is becoming more relaxed and natural and I'm re-learning the breath patterns that work for me. I'm doing trail running, more than street because the drainage ditches are hilly and have different ground coverings and things. It's quite fun. I hope to be able to continue through the Summer. I'm taking an accounting class in six weeks this summer. Then another accounting class in six weeks. I've heard it's going to be rough but that I can do it if I'm dilligent. I guess I'm up for the challange because I've decided to go for it. David realizes that I'll be worthless for those 12 weeks but said he didn't mind. What a great guy.
