We visited a church today. It is within walking distance from our apartment. We drove by it when we were applying and David said "Let's try that one first." Although I agreed I wasn't too excited about it because I (David was mostly working and couldn't go to church) had been to SEVERAL churches in Louisiana and still hadn't found one that I really liked. Well, I must say that I was very impressed with this church. We went to the 10am service. They had a nice song service accompanied by an extremely talented pianist. Today was Communion for them so the entire service was associated with that. After the service we were greeted by the Pastor and his wife who asked if we were new in town. They then asked us to join them for lunch. I think this is incredible. We were very encouraged that they'd be willing to open their home to us after a 3 min conversation. While it wasn't convenient for us (we have quite a bit to get done in short order!) and we had planned to grill ribs, the Pastors wife said that we should take a rain check. We felt so welcome and yet not suffocated. It was wonderful. The church has a website http://www.vbcaurora.org/index.htm if you are interested in checking it out. Unless something unexpected shows up we expect that we will be attending here for the duration of our stay. We are looking forward to getting to know the families in the church! They have home groups on the last Sunday evening of each month and we are looking forward that intimate setting.
