Neighbors
(We still do not have internet service at home and cell phone service is still not totally reliable.)
Our neighborhood gathered for dinner again last night. Everyone in our section has power but many of our friends and co-workers do not so we pooled resources again and put together brisket sandwiches, potato salad, Cesar salad, baked beans and cookies. I had a co-worker join us. His wife and kids are out of town until their home gets electricity and water service restored. He was able to run a load of laundry, take a shower, have a meal and hang out for a while. Tonight we're doing chili and corn bread as a group. It's Friday but some of our neighbors will have to work tomorrow. It's an option for me but I'm declining, thanks. School should resume on Monday. We've been out for a week and a half. I'm not sure what this is going to mean for my 8 week course. It'll be a big hit for this class. Anyway, we're very thankful for our neighborhood and the people that we've been able to enjoy throughout this time. Also, we got a call from dear friends in Tyler, TX. They wanted to know should they load up their car with food, ice, cleaning supplies, gas.... and head our way. How thoughtful! We told them we were doing OK though. More and more business areas are getting their electricity restored so it's getting easier to obtain food and fuel for our vehicles.
