Today was something of an unproductive feeling Saturday. My neighbor and I took the dogs out this morning for a really long walk. We brought along our coffee travel mugs and hiked it out for about 1.5 hours. It was great. Just what the doggies and I needed. I studied (math final on Monday, need an 80 to have an "A" in the class because I made a 99 on my last exam) and made bread. I have been wanting things like grilled cheese sandwiches and french toast, both of which I prefer on fluffy white bread. I froze one loaf but hope to eat the other in the next week or so.
I haven't touched Christmas cards since earlier post. Probably because the weather warmed up again and it's not nearly as inspiring as frosty ground! Also, excessive studying hasn't lent for much spare time.
Yesterday I swung by our church to pick up a few things for our class and ran into a friend from group. She's working part time at the church and had two of her kiddohs with her. A four year old and an 11 month old, both boys. She couldn't believe I was there and "what are you doing here?" "what are you doing now?" "what are you doing
today?" "Can you watch my kids!?!?!" Needless to say I ended up having two kids for several hours yesterday afternoon. ;-) I took them with me to my girlfriends house. She has a tendency to feed me when David's out of town (I typically eat cereal when he's gone) and she calls me several times a week and says lunch/dinner in an hour come over. She has kids similar ages as the two I adopted for a bit, so I figured what's two more? Then we played at the church. 3.5 hours reminded me why I no longer babysit and question how women stay home all day with kids and don't go entirely insane. The kids were good too, they weren't a problem I just do better in small doses. My friend was so appreciative. She had tons to do and none of her usual babysitters were available. It was nice to be able to help her out. I've realized how much I associate myself with my job. Whatever it is and however much I like (or dislike) the job I'm doing, I get a lot of satisfaction from doing a good job and from earning a paycheck and from advancing in a job. While I'm NOT making a career out of occasionally watching kids, it was nice to have something other than homework and bill paying/finance budgeting to be responsible for. I'm already looking forward to having a job when I graduate! (This won't shock Hubs in the least because he knows how much I enjoy working and that it drives me nuts being home. What will shock him is that it took four weeks for me to start getting antsy for a job!!)
On Monday after my Finite Math final (YEA!!) I'm heading up to Sam Houston to get my schedule hammered down and figure out everything else. I'm very excited although it's been nearly 10 years since I've been a full time student so I'm nervous. I still have a 4.0 and I'd LOVE to keep it through the next 2 years (hopefully less!). Oh, and about school - every degree awarding institution has requirements about the number of credits one MUST receive from them when earning a degree. As a result of these credit requirements it will be close to two years (we'll find out more Monday) before I have my degree in my hands. I'm coming to terms with this. I love school. I have high expectations for my classes and I'm looking forward to having my degree and planning (hoping) to continue to Law School. We'll see how long that takes. =0) I'll probably work a few years and start building a career and see. I like the idea of being a judge.

I keep thinking that I've commented on this post but then remember that I haven't yet.
I'm wondering if the cold has reached you yet and you're back into Christmas card swing. :-)
Something similiar happen to me with a co-worker, she desperately needed someone to watch her three kids (ages 9-12) one evening so they were dropped off at my house. We had a blast but boy I was tired and my house was a wreck! Still, it was nice to help her out. Some days I think I would go stir crazy without a job and other days I just wish I could stay home and finish up all the projects I started eons ago. :-)
